I'm just plain irritated today.

CNN, in it’s new “God, I wish I was Fox News” mode has done a fawning piece about young people and abstinence.

I Am Worth the Wait

I gotta tell you what, no you are NOT worth the wait.  You know why?  First, you are probably hormone deficient, not strong willed.  Second, you will have NO EXPERIENCE.  You will lie there like a dead cat.  It will be months before you even begin to enjoy it.  On top of that, you are NOT comfortable with nakedness, sex, sex smell, and your idea of kinky is kissing with tongue.  In short, you will be a lousy lover for at least a year, perhaps forever with your hormone condition.

CNN has become FOX NEWS

The second part of my CNN rant is Glenn Beck.  You know, the talk radio tool they put on Headline News along with that hateful psychotic bitch Nancy Grace.  Why the fuck can’t I get the ACTUAL NEWS on Headline News?  That was the PURPOSE of that channel.

Anyway, back to the asshat that is Glen Beck.  Mr. Beck’s sickening conservative views are hard enough to take, but he automatically assumes that the rest of the universe is dumber than a pile of bricks.  What the FUCK CNN?  Why the Fox News type commenters?  Why?  If I wanted crazy and conservative, Fox News has you beat hands down.  Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly you can’t beat those guys for conservative and crazy.

Sexual Desires of Fictional Characters

Dumbledore gay.  DO NOT CARE.  Dear media, stop obsessing about it.  The Harry Potter series wasn’t about “getting it on” anyway.  Well outside of obsessive fan fiction, it wasn’t.  I don’t care what Dumbledore’s sexual orientation is.  Was.  Whatever.

Social Networking Sites

I am old because I don’t get Facebook, or MySpace or any of those other sites.  I just don’t get it.  I feel out of touch and I probably am.  I have looked these sites over and I don’t see a need to advertise myself in that personal a manner.  A professional site, business oriented, sure.  Pictures of me cutting the lawn or sweeping the garage?  No point.

Music

I recognize almost nothing from Blixco’s Friday playlists.  In most cases, I haven’t even hear of the bands, let alone the songs.  I don’t recognize much of my wife’s playlists either.  For her, there seems to be a lot of The Postal Service, Decemberists, things like that.  In short, whiny crap.  I can groove on the whiney sometimes, but not the 24/7 whine that these 20 something hipsters make.  Man, what happened to the groove and the infectious beat?  And don’t say hiphop.  Hiphop if the Disco of our time.

World Series and Baseball

Hmm, looks as though the Rockies may have cooled off in the eight days they had to sit while the Red Sox finished off the Indians.  If the Rockies do not use their rage at the loss to fuel the next game, this will be a quick four game win for the Red Sox.  And the Rockies will have no respect for what they did accomplish.  They will be considered a “flash in the pan”. Prediction:  Red Sox in five games.

Now as for a new coach for the Yankees.  I say this:  Who fucking cares.  I hate the goddamn Yankees.  May they suffer from 30 years of losing seasons.  Much like my beloved Brewers.

Oh hell.  Back to work.

I get tired of that emo crap too by georgeha (4.00 / 1) #2 Thu Oct 25, 2007 at 03:21:24 PM EST
there is some non-emo new music out there, but not much. Try the Killers, the White Stripes, the Raconteurs.

Cool by Gedvondur (2.00 / 0) #4 Thu Oct 25, 2007 at 03:32:21 PM EST
I am down with the White Stripes and the Killers.  I will give the Raconteurs a try.

I downloaded the new Radiohead album, but so far it is failing to hold my attention.  Mind you I've only listened to it twice through, so it might take yet.

i use my emusic subscription to grab anything that seems even remotely interesting and then fill in the monthly left overs with old jazz.  not jerk-off ornette coleman crap.  but the good stuff.

oh...and some old "dead white guys with violins" stuff too.

booya to the Jazz by Gedvondur (4.00 / 1) #5 Thu Oct 25, 2007 at 03:38:20 PM EST
I have been listening to Thelonious Monk a ton recently.

But some days I need something to get my blood going and the jazz is good, but doesn't really make me boogey.

Not sure what to do about it right now.  I tried some Amy Winehouse, I didn't care for it.  Not bad music, just not interesting either.  I am considering firing up some net radio stations with alternative styles to see if I can't find something.

Decemberists by blixco (4.00 / 3) #8 Thu Oct 25, 2007 at 04:02:35 PM EST
aren't whiny in their last album.  They're the new face of prog rock.

I'm going to have a heist music / daner music playlist (which will include some Hives and some White Stripes and some random techno) as well as a Honky Tonk list (which no-one but I will download, but hey!) soon.

agree with all of it. myspace, even though i have a page on it, it totally sucks. i can see why musicians and future pornstars would like it. i mean as antisocial as i am, if i want to spend time with somebody, let it be face to face, not over a website or through text messages.

i think it's great that dumbledore's gay because it pisses all sorts of stupid people off. other than that i don't give a fuck, i'm already well onto the next book.

social networking by MillMan (4.00 / 2) #17 Thu Oct 25, 2007 at 05:35:14 PM EST
kind of fun to find old classmates. facebook has an app for posting pictures which some friends have used. One of the biggest downsides I've found is that it transforms your evening out from having fun to "what pictures do I take to prove I was out having fun."

I think they (along with sites like this) are slowly replacing the now largely dead institutions / communities we used to have for socializing and group identity / cohesion. Yeah there are pitfalls there, but there were also, uh, pitfalls when the church was the dominant social institution too (to say nothing of when it was the dominant political institution). It certainly helps borderline socially retarded people like myself.

When I'm imprisoned as an enemy combatant, will you blog about it?

does it really help though? by alprazolam (4.00 / 1) #29 Fri Oct 26, 2007 at 09:40:34 AM EST
i think it takes away from just heading out to the neighborhood bar for a drink and chat (not that I do that). plus with cellphones etc nobody ever needs to talk to people they don't know so it's harder to meet people.
